It all began in 1982, when Polly Clements couldn't find a coat to fit
the shape of her Whippet....she designed and tailored one to perfectly fit her Whippets arched back. Other Whippet owners who saw her coat asked if she could make one for their dogs too, and so PC Panache was born. From this simple beginning, Polly's coats were known in the dog world and breeders circuit. Her Panache rain slicker collection was sold in London at Harrods, the most prestigious and famous European store ! Her coats were also in many Upper East Side NYC high end dog boutique's.

Over the years Panache has grown a great deal. Polly started out making only custom coats, one at a time. Through the years she's measured hundreds of dogs and refined her patterns to fit every breed, to create her " ready to wear line. " Her Panache coats are simply designed for fit, function,warmth and comfort...using only the highest quality fabrics all machine washable. Like everything "Panache" Polly's coats last many, many years.

 

As other needs arose, Polly met the challenge and added new items. When a very large bed was needed for giant dogs, her friend, Marcia Melamed came up with the solution for our contoured foam bed. The Panache Bed was  featured in " The Whole Dog Journal " as the best bed in the market.
And so continuing to fulfill the requests of its loyal customers, Panache
 became a business, and custom tailoring became its hallmark, and to this  day each item is lovingly made one piece at a time.

 

About 20 years ago Carol Smith was fortunate enough to find PC Panache at a dog show, as she had been looking for many years unsuccessfully to find a proper fitting coat for her curvy Italian Greyhounds.As a top breeder of Best In Show and Westminster winning Italian Greyhounds, Carol would recommend Panache to all her fellow breeders and new IG owner's.

Carol met Jay Williams in 2008, a highly creative art director who had 25 years experience in the fashion industry, having successfully built a top New York design studio. Combined with her love of dogs and passion for design, and Carol's extensive knowledge a chance phone call that Polly was wanting to retire was all that it took.
